Welcome to the Glentress Bowhill Winter
Duathlon Series Site
We’re finally ready to open entries via

-
there’s one fairly significant change from last year
though…… we’re moving to Bowhill Estate!. Sorry
for the delay, but it’s taken quite a lot of work behind
the scenes to sort this out.
The Glentress Duathlon Series will be moving for 2012-13 to
a great new venue. The reason for the change is that the fees
that were demanded by the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS)
rendered the series non-viable without a big hike in entry fees – something
we were reluctant to do, and we certainly didn’t want to
cancel the series altogether – we know people love it.
The
Duathlon Series is a fun, cheap, no-frills winter blast, and
it’s only right that we keep the entry costs down as
far as possible. We hope you agree. It goes without saying that
we were disappointed at FCS’s stance, and we worked really
hard for several months to avoid this situation. Hopefully it
can be resolved long term.
However….. (and here’s the good bit!) as it turns
out, we’ve stumbled on a brilliant new home for the races.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please be upstanding and welcome the Bowhill
Duathlon Series!. It’s a short hop down the A707 to Selkirk,
and the beautiful Bowhill House and Country Park Estate. It’s
huge area of woodland and open hillside with a massive network
of paths and trails of all kinds – including some great
old-skool hand-crafted singletrack – we might even custom-make
some trails for the races!.
Transition will be in the sheltered and picturesque Courtyard
of the house, which has an adjacent Café and ‘real’ toilets
(no nasty portable toilets!), and will be a much better experience
both for participants and spectators.
All the details, including
links to online entries, are at

We’ve managed to keep entry fees at pretty much the same
level as last year’s series, and will still be doing the
mix of great fun, well-marked courses, chip-timing, relaxed low
key approach, and maybe even mince pies and Easter eggs!.
Race dates are;
Sunday 2nd December – Short (20mins MTB
+ 20mins Trail Run winning time)
Sunday 27th January – Medium (30mins MTB
+ 30mins Trail Run winning time)
Sunday 24th February – Long (40mins MTB
+ 40mins Trail Run winning time)
